Clashes broke out at protests in Paris against police brutality and a controversial new security law.
Some demonstrators torched cars, smashed windows and reportedly launched projectiles at police forces who responded with tear gas.
It was one of around 100 protests planned throughout France. In the capital, thousands took to the streets for a second consecutive weekend to voice their concerns about President Macron's proposed security plans.
The government says the new law is intended to protect police officers. But the protesters fear the bill would restrict freedoms, as it would limit their right to make recordings of police officers and call out abuse. Police used tear gas to deter the protesters as they made their way to the city's Place de la République.
