CEOs of Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencer, and National Grid Paid Millions Despite UK Cost of Living Crisis
Top bosses at Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencer, and National Grid were paid millions, despite the cost of living crisis in the UK.
National Grid's CEO John Pettigrew received £7.2m, up from £6.6m the previous year, while Sainsbury's CEO Simon Roberts earned £4.9m, up 36% from the previous year.
Marks & Spencer's co-CEOs received more than £2m in pay.
The energy companies have faced criticism for profiteering amid rising food and energy prices.
Pettigrew's pay was 247 times the average lowest-paid employee, up from 202 the previous year.
Meanwhile, Roberts defended Sainsbury's against accusations of greedflation, arguing that the retailer had made less profit due to "conscious decisions to keep our prices as low as we could."
